Approach to Governance
Austral is prioritizing improving the transparency and accountability in their Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices. In 2023 we reviewed our corporate policies and processes to ensure strong governance but also to help us to prioritise initiatives based on stakeholder feedback.
As part of enhancing our accountability, we've established a dedicated ESG committee with a formal charter, meeting three to four times a year. The committee oversees our ESG program and is made up of a combination of our board of directors, operational personal, and independent advisors. The meetings also act as a mechanism to keep our board of directors across broader ESG trends emerging globally.
We are also taking a proactive approach to seeking stakeholder input into our program and have to date undertaken the following activities: an ESG Stakeholder sentiment survey conducted in 2023, one-on-one interviews with key members of the Austral Operations team to integrate employee and community centric initiatives, and an ongoing commitment to engagement with internal and external stakeholders in our annual ESG sub-committee forum. We have also committed to publishing regular updates on our program and ESG journey as part of our quarterly and annual reporting.
